If you follow our blog, you will often see my partner, Julia Lee and I say this over and over, “content is the driving force for getting your website indexed and ranked by search engines.” Not just any content, but quality content.

One thing you can do to make sure you have quality content is to avoid keyword stuffing.

What is keyword stuffing? It is when you put your keywords over and over again in your content, i.e. article, blog, or news.

For example, if your keyword string or phrase is “Pittsburgh car accident lawyer”, you don’t want to have that phrase over and over again in the article. For a prospective client looking for an answer to a question about “who pays for my medical expenses in a car accident”, seeing “Pittsburgh personal injury lawyer” over and over again will result in the prospective client leaving your website.

Why? Because when prospective clients are searching and looking for answers, they don’t want to see the same keyword string over and over. They want their questions answered, and it is a turn off and distracting to have the same keyword string stuffed in the article.

You want the keyword string placed where it should naturally go and not in every other sentence. It could be in the beginning of the article, and maybe at the end of the article again depending on the content.

Whether you write your own legal content on your law firm’s website or you hire content writers, make sure keywords are not stuffed in the article. You may have the right keywords strategy and know what your prospective clients are typing, but if you are stuffing the keywords, you will turn away prospective clients.
