Google, the number one search engine, uses an algorithm to determine what websites and website pages are on page one of a search engine results page (SERP). The algorithm has hundreds of variables, and Google constantly makes changes to the algorithm. The one thing that has not changed and is probably the most important factor, is content.
So why is content important?
Content is what draws website visitors to your site and helps get your website ranked in organic search engine results. It’s like having items to sell in a retail store. If you don’t have anything in your store, or only have out-dated items, no one will come to your store.
Not only do you need to have content, it has to be quality content. If the content is not relevant to the keywords the viewer is searching, then that is not quality content. The content must be relevant to the terms the viewer is searching.
What is website content?
Content on a website can be many things:
- articles,
- news articles,
- blog posts,
- frequently asked questions,
- pictures, and
- videos.
